There is some dispute as to which country "created" the poodle. Although known for it's association
with France, it is highly believed that the poodle actually originated in Germany.
The standard poodle, consid- ered a large dog over 15" at the shoulder, moves with a grace and elegance that is
beautiful to behold. The original charge of the standard poodle breed was to retrieve ducks in cold water.
Something their coat is well suited for. Actually,
the german word "pudeln" means to "splash about in the water". Even today, some standard poodles
are still used as versatile hunting dogs.
Poodles live for companionship and are miserable when ignored or left alone. Standard poodles
make great family dogs and they do well with children and senior citizens.
Poodles are known for
intelligence, trainability
& loveable, sweet disposition.
